Custom Hotel Table Lamps: When Left and Right Bedsides Need Different Specifications

Cover: AI-generated interior concept using a Meiyun product reference; not a completed hotel project photograph or proof of a specific control configuration.

Specify hotel bedside table lamps against the furniture, socket position and guest controls before treating a matching pair as two identical units.

A matching appearance does not settle the configuration

For custom hotel table lamps, the left and right bedside positions should be checked separately even when both lamps are intended to look the same. The relationship between the base, cable exit, power socket and control can differ on opposite sides of a bed. A coordinated design may use one common configuration, or it may require distinct variants; that decision belongs in the approved specification, not in an assumption made when quantities are ordered.

Consider an illustrative room where each bedside cabinet places its socket towards the bed. Rotating one lamp might solve the cable route, but it might also rotate a visible detail or move an on-base control. The point is not that every pair needs special tooling. It is that the project team should test the proposed arrangement before deciding whether the same unit works in both locations. This example is not a description of a completed Meiyun installation.

Use the furniture drawing to decide whether one variant is enough

Mark the proposed lamp footprint and socket location on each bedside layout. Include furniture edges, drawers and the intended cable path. Ask whether the lamp can occupy its agreed position without requiring the cable to cross a working surface or pass through an unconfirmed furniture opening. Any change to the furniture or electrical installation should be reviewed by the responsible project team.

Next, identify where the guest operates the lamp. A switch on the base, a cord-mounted control and a room-control interface are different requests, not interchangeable descriptions of the same product. State the desired arrangement and ask the manufacturer to confirm feasibility, electrical compatibility and the scope of supply. Do not infer a particular control function from a photograph or from the phrase “hotel lighting”.

Review a representative setup with the proposed cabinet and bed arrangement where practical. Record unresolved issues as specific decisions: retain one common lamp configuration, change the furniture coordination, or develop separate left and right versions. Avoid approving an attractive sample while leaving those decisions undocumented.

Count configurations, not just rooms

After the layout review, separate the order by approved variant and room type. If left and right versions are required, use distinct references and agree corresponding carton identification. Keep the visible finish reference connected to both variants so that a functional difference does not accidentally become an unapproved visual difference.

For purchasing teams, the important reconciliation is between the room schedule and the lamp schedule. A total quantity can be correct while the split between configurations is wrong. Confirm who will update the order when a room layout changes, and check whether that change affects drawings, samples, labels or packing instructions before production is released.

Where Meiyun fits in the coordination

Zhongshan Meiyun Lighting Co., Ltd. supplies table lamps as part of its decorative lighting range and specialises in custom-engineered lighting for commercial and high-end residential projects. Its in-house scope includes metalworking, finishes and LED assembly, with project support covering engineering shop drawings and material-sample approval. These capabilities provide a starting point for discussing a project-specific bedside lamp, rather than establishing that every requested control or connection is already available.

Send Meiyun the two bedside layouts, preferred appearance, proposed socket positions and intended control requirements. Ask which configuration can be offered and what requires further engineering review. Destination electrical requirements and any necessary product documentation should be confirmed for the agreed model and configuration; company-level capability statements are not a substitute for that check.

One question before placing the order

Can the purchasing team explain, from the approved documents, why the two bedside positions use the same lamp—or why they use different versions? If the answer depends on an installer deciding later, the specification is not yet resolved. For wider room coordination, see our guide to hotel guest room lighting, then bring the lamp-specific layout decisions into the enquiry.
